Following the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, John Cena is expected to return to WWE TV this month.

As previously reported, Cena is set to wrestle at WWE SummerSlam on August 21 in Las Vegas, where he will face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

While many sources have stated that Cena is still a go for SummerSlam, there has been no news on when he would return to television to set up that encounter. Until now, that is. The working idea, according to Fightful Select, is for Cena to return on the July 23 SmackDown programme.

The SmackDown will take place in the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio on July 23. This will be the episode following Money in the Bank.

Cena could return sooner, but as of right now, the idea is for him to make his long-awaited WWE return on the July 23 episode of SmackDown on FOX.

Reigns will defend his Money In the Bank title against WWE Hall of Famer Edge on Sunday's pay-per-view. There's no news on how they'll get to Cena vs. Reigns yet, but SummerSlam will also include Edge vs. Seth Rollins.
Cena has been away from WWE TV since losing the Firefly Fun House Match to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, focusing on his film career.
