Bayley is out of commission due to a torn ACL and is likely to be sidelined for nine months. On July 18, she was supposed to face Belair in a "I Quit" match at the WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view.
Sonya Deville had previously stated that she would announce a "appropriate replacement" for Bayley at Money In the Bank, but Deville ended up cancelling the pay-per-view title bout. Carmella vs. Belair was then announced for next Friday's live SmackDown in Houston by Deville.
Deville and Carmella were interrupted by Liv Morgan, who accused Deville of favouritism. Morgan will take Carmella's position in the Women's Money In the Bank Ladder Match, according to Deville. Carmella has been warned by Liv, who says she intends to win the title next Friday so she can cash in on her.
Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, and Zelina Vega are now confirmed MITB entrants. Two more blue brand positions need to be filled.
