WRESTLING RUMORS AND NEWS ROUND UP - JAN 20, 2016
Matt Hardy defeated Ethan Carter III to become the new TNA
World Heavyweight Champion. This is Hardy's second reign with
the title.
Tonight's Career vs. Title main event also saw a double turn as
Hardy turned heel. He now has Tyrus and wife Reby Sky with him
after Tyrus turned on EC3.
WWE Tough Enough winner Josh Bredl, now using the name
Bronson Mathews in WWE NXT, got a bunch of heat on Twitter
after tweeting a shot at WWE's Social Outcasts stable last night.
This led to Kevin Owens, Stardust, Curtis Axel, Heath Slater,
Adam Rose and Bull Dempsey chiming in. Bull and Bredl deleted
most of their tweets but the original tweet from Bredl was, "Yup.. I
like it.. #SocialJobbers"
The word going around WWE is that Bredl has so much heat
because a lot of workers on the main roster and in NXT felt his
shot at the Social Outcasts was completely disrespectful, according
to PWInsider. Slater and his stable are obviously on the lower end
of the midcard but the feeling is that they have all earned their
spots on the roster and made sacrifices to be where they are while
Bredl did not, as he got into WWE through Tough Enough with a
$250,000 contract, so he didn't have the right to disrespect the
group.
WWE was very specific that they didn't want Styles, Karl
Anderson, Doc Gallows and Shinsuke Nakamura working for
ROH going forward, according to The Wrestling Observer
Newsletter, but they did not go as far as telling Anderson and
Gallows to no-show the ROH dates that they had booked this
month.
Bryan is likely going to Pittsburgh for medical testing or some
kind of meeting with Maroon, perhaps to try and get cleared to
return to the ring. We've noted how Bryan was cleared by outside
doctors but WWE doctors have not cleared him to return to action.
FOX Sports has confirmed that WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has
signed on to call New Japan Pro Wrestling matches for AXS TV.
JR will work alongside Josh Barnett beginning March 4th at 9pm
EST.
Dixie Carter confirmed on Twitter that TNA will be returning to
Orlando for more tapings in March.
Word going around TNA is that the tour of India that was
postponed last year will take place sometime this summer,
according to PWInsider.
