This is interesting due to the ESPN - WWE relationship but ESPN's SportsCenter was recently filming for a story on Lucha Underground.
As noted, AJ Styles will make his final Ring of Honor appearance this Saturday night in Duluth, Georgia for a farewell segment and autograph signing. Styles' deal with WWE is far enough that ROH is not allowed to air footage from the Styles farewell on TV, at least at this point.
As noted, TNA made a big play for AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows for their POP TV Impact Wrestling premiere earlier this month. They offered Anderson a deal in the $200,000 range but he turned them down for WWE.
In regards to new TNA contracts that are being offered with guarantees, TNA is trying to control outside bookings once again. New deals still allow talents to work indies but promoters must go through TNA to book their televised talents. These new deals would include guaranteed money, said to be a decent figure, instead of per-night deals. These new deals are also likely just for top talents that are being pushed in 2016. One talent with a significant push planned for this year was being offered a $60,000 deal.
On a related note, TNA has told talents that they are planning to get more aggressive with merchandising later this year.
In an update to Daniel Bryan heading out to Pittsburgh this week and possibly meeting with WWE Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon, Dave Meltzer noted on The Wrestling Observer forums that Bryan is not seeing Dr. Maroon and is just there for the World of Wheels auto show.
There has been a recent push within WWE to do a Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar singles match, perhaps at WrestleMania 32. WWE ending Monday's RAW with The Wyatt Family beating Lesnar down could be a sign that they're moving in that direction.
There's been a lot of speculation on Aries possibly coming in, especially after he didn't work the recent TNA Impact Wrestling tapings. Aries was in Pittsburgh, PA this week, according to PWInsider, and the belief is that he's there to undergo the required pre-signing WWE medical tests.
It was mentioned by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live that Bredl's heat was a hot topic within WWE, to the point that some people, presumably WWE officials or someone backstage with some seniority, were ready to "step in."
On a related note, things could get interesting at the WWE Royal Rumble on Sunday as most of the NXT roster, including Bredl, are scheduled to be backstage because the Rumble is in Orlando.
AJ Styles is finally coming to WWE, according to PWInsider. Styles is set to begin his run with WWE this week as he will be at the Royal Rumble on Sunday, RAW in Miami and then the SmackDown tapings in Tampa.
Monday's episode of WWE RAW, with Brock Lesnar and the final WWE Royal Rumble push, drew 3.496 million viewers. This is up 5% from last week's 3.323 million viewers . For this week's show, the first hour drew 3.775 million viewers, the second hour drew 3.591 million viewers and the final hour drew 3.123 million viewers.
Nikki Bella would find out when she can return to the ring in late January.
There were some people within WWE down on Tyler Breeze after he asked for permission to leave a recent WWE TV taping early. Once word got out that Breeze did leave early, other people started talking and this led to some members of WWE management, who did not know about the request, getting angry with Breeze.
Triple H is currently a slight favorite to win The Royal Rumble match this Sunday, according to the latest odds from 5Dimes. Triple H currently stands at +105, followed by Roman Reigns at +180, Brock Lesnar at +310 and Bray Wyatt at +1400. Everyone else is above +3000.
